Chaco Canyon, NM
This section is from Chaco Canyon, New Mexico. Here are thousand year old pueblo ruins and what I've heard is considered to be the best archaeological ruins in the United States. As you can see below, the ruins are below steep cliffs. There are several separate buildings, thus the canyon constituted a kind of town.
Below is Pueblo Bonito, the largest of the ruins. It was a 4-5 story building when intact and now only one room remains completely intact.
